Cosmo Papers (“the App”, “we”, “us”) gives you a curated way to browse, preview, favorite, and save wallpapers based on NASA’s Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD), with an optional Cosmo Plus subscription that unlocks advanced search and the full archive. Your privacy matters to us. This policy explains what data is processed and by whom. A small amount of data is processed by our subscription and paywall providers so that purchases, restores, and Cosmo Plus access work.

1. Information We Process

• Account / login. None. The App has no accounts and no sign-in.

• Purchases & subscriptions. When you buy or restore Cosmo Plus, the transaction is handled by Apple and managed through RevenueCat. RevenueCat assigns an anonymous app-user identifier and processes your purchase/transaction history, subscription status, and basic device and OS information to grant entitlements and let you restore purchases. We do not receive your credit-card or Apple account credentials — Apple processes all payments.

• Paywall display & analytics. The paywall is delivered by Superwall, which processes paywall impressions and events plus device/OS identifiers to show paywalls and measure their performance.

• Favorites & settings. Stored locally on your device (Core Data / device storage). They are not uploaded to us.

• Microphone & speech (voice search, optional). Only when you tap the microphone in search, audio is converted to text using Apple’s speech recognition. Recognition runs on-device where your device supports it; otherwise iOS may process the audio through Apple’s speech services. We do not record, store, or transmit your audio ourselves.

• Photos (optional). Only when you choose to save a wallpaper, and only with your permission, the image is written to your photo library. We do not read or browse your library.

• Translation (optional). Image descriptions are translated on-device using Apple’s Translation framework when you request it.

• Notifications (optional). If enabled, reminders are scheduled locally on your device.

  
  

2. Data Sources

APOD images and descriptions come from NASA — both from content bundled in the App and from NASA’s publicly available APOD API. This content is read-only. No identifiable information about you is sent to NASA.

3. Tracking & Advertising

We do not display advertising and do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites for advertising purposes. The App does not request App Tracking Transparency permission and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). The subscription and paywall providers listed above collect the data described in Section 1 to operate and measure the App’s own functionality only.

5. How Data Is Shared

We do not sell your data. Data is shared only with the processors above, and only as needed to provide subscriptions, restore purchases, and present paywalls.

6. Data Retention

On-device data (favorites, settings) remains until you delete it or remove the App. Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat per their policies so that your subscription status and restores keep working.

7. Children’s Privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

8. Your Rights

Depending on where you live (e.g. EEA/UK under GDPR, California under CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access or delete data about you. Because we do not maintain accounts and the subscription identifier is anonymous, please contact us at [support email] and we will help you exercise these rights, including coordinating with our providers where applicable. You can manage or cancel subscriptions anytime in your Apple account settings.
